We will be participating in the "Yonomori Picnic [Spring is Just Around the Corner]" to be held at Yonomori Park in Tomioka Town, Fukushima Prefecture, on Sunday, March 16, 2025!

This will be our second participation, following the Yonomori Picnic held last September.
At the venue, we will exhibit videos and materials related to our past activities and the (tentative) Museum of the Sea of Time - Tohoku, as well as an LED counter that will be part of the actual artwork.

In addition, on the day of the event, there will be food and drink stalls and participatory programs in addition to the exhibition booth. It is an event where you can enjoy a relaxing picnic while feeling the nature of Yonomori Park.

We look forward to seeing you there!

*Please note that there will be no time setting workshop at this exhibition booth.

What is the "Sea of Time - Tohoku" project?

This art project is created by contemporary artist Tatsuo Miyajima, known for his digital counter artworks, based on the concepts of "it constantly changes," "it connects with everything," and "it continues forever." It is a collaborative effort with the people living in Tohoku and those who care about Tohoku, with the wish to commemorate the victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake, preserve the memory of the disaster, and collectively build the future of Tohoku.

The artwork, which is envisioned to have 3,000 digital counters counting from "9 to 1" installed in a large shallow basin of water, involves 3,000 people, with each participant setting the speed at which their LED number counts to their desired time. Since 2016, workshops have been held mainly in Tohoku and across Japan, engaging with participants. As of February 28, 2025, the total number of participants has reached 2,779. Currently, the site for the (tentative) Museum of the Sea of Time - Tohoku, where the artwork will be permanently installed in Tomioka Town, Fukushima Prefecture, has been decided, and activities are ongoing with the goal of completion in 2027.
