On Saturday, July 13, 2024, we will hold an "Opening Ceremony + Social Gathering" for Tatsuo Miyajima Office Co., Ltd.'s Tomioka Town Office, as part of the "Sea of Time - Tohoku" project.
The Tomioka Town Office of Tatsuo Miyajima Office Co., Ltd. opened in Tomioka Town, Futaba District, Fukushima Prefecture, in April 2024, as a new base for the "Sea of Time - Tohoku" project. From this location, we are undertaking concrete research for the construction of a museum where the artwork will be permanently installed, and disseminating information about the project's progress to everyone in the Hamadori area of Fukushima Prefecture and along the Tohoku coast.
On the day of the event, we plan to exhibit materials and demonstration works related to the "Sea of Time - Tohoku" project at the venue.
In addition, there will be a mini-talk with contemporary artist Tatsuo Miyajima and Mio Kahara, director of the "Sea of Time - Tohoku" project, during a designated core time.
We would like to discuss the past and future of the "Sea of Time - Tohoku" project, including what we have felt while conducting "Time Setting" workshops across Japan since the announcement of the artwork concept in 2015, and how the project is currently progressing towards the completion of the work.
The "Opening Ceremony + Social Gathering" is open to everyone, and you are free to come and go as you please!
We will be offering light refreshments and drinks, so please feel free to join us.
